The avatar unit and protagonist of Fire Emblem: Three Hopes. Shez is a mercenary, and was working under Captain Berling until Jeralt's Mercenaries wiped their group out. Shez is linked to a mysterious entity named Arval, who has saved Shez's life on multiple occasions. After meeting Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude on a chance encounter, Shez ends up coerced into going to the monastery, which kicks off the events of Three Hopes.

Edelgard was the House Leader of the Black Eagles at the Officers Academy, and is currently emperor of the Adrestian Empire. She habors great disdain for the classicism and Crest-centric societal structure of Fódlan, and dreams to make big sweeping changes. As emperor, she declares war on the Central Church.

Hubert was a Black Eagles student at the Officers Academy. He is Edelgard's vassal, a role that the von Vestra family has held historically towards the emperor. He immediately strikes others as sinister and threatening, his interactions with anyone outside his trust appearing nefarious.

Ferdinand was a Black Eagles student at the Officers Academy, hailing from the Aegir Dukedom in the Adrestian Empire. He is a proud and confident noble who is fiercely competitive, particularly with his one-sided rival Edelgard. He strives to be better than her, but this is because he believes it will prove his worth as the future Adrestian prime minister.

Linhardt was a Black Eagles student at the Officers Academy, hailing from the County of Hevring in the Adrestian Empire. He hates constraints and loves to have freedom, especially to relax in order to avoid worries and problems. Although he is extremely intelligent, his laziness causes him to not use it unless it benefits him in some way.

Caspar was a Black Eagles student at the Officers Academy, and is the second son of House Bergliez. He is hotheaded and has a strong sense of justice, causing him to frequently getting into fights. He is an honest man who hates lies and unfair treatment, but can be inconsiderate of others' feelings.

Bernadetta was a Black Eagles student at the Officers Academy, and is the eldest daughter of the Count of Varley. She is extremely skittish and terrified of social interaction, due to mistreatment from her father. During her time at the monastery, she would often be hiding in her dormitory.

Dorothea was a Black Eagles student at the Officers Academy, hailing from the Adrestian capital city of Enbarr. She is a natural performer who enjoys to act and to sing, as she was formerly a songstress. Despite being of common heritage she still treats her noble classmates as equals.

Petra was a Black Eagles student at the Officers Academy, hailing from Brigid, an archipelago to the west of Fódlan. After Brigid was made a vassal state of the Empire, Petra was sent to the Academy as a token of allegiance, as the heir and granddaughter of the king of Brigid. She is intelligent and capable, but is not a native speaker of the language in Fódlan and makes many grammatical errors.

Monica was a Black Eagles student, and is the eldest daughter of Baron Ochs. She was one year senior to the other students, but disappeared mysteriously shortly before her graduation. She is discovered to have been kidnapped by bandits, and is rescued by Jeritza's class during a mission. Monica is big fan of Edelgard, perhaps even more so than Hubert, whom she often disagrees with.

Manuela was a professor at the Officers Academy of Garreg Mach. She was known as he "Divine Songstress" throughout the Imperial Capital, before she left to work as a professor and physician at the Garreg Mach Monastery. She is a flirty woman, but her love life is a sore subject as she regrets not finding a man at her age. As many of her dates are unsuccessful, she is scared that she will stay single for life.

Jeritza was a professor at the Officers Academy, in charge of armed combat training. He dislikes mingling and banter, rejecting those who attempt to talk to him with short and curt replies. Despite his mysterious and quiet disposition, his skill has earned him a place as an instructor at the Garreg Mach Monastery.

Dimitri was the House Leader of the Blue Lions at the Officers Academy, and is now the King of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus after quelling a rebellion from his uncle Rufus. He is a sincere young man who seems to define chivalry, but there is darkness lurking under his demeanor. Despite being noble, he dislikes pretentiousness, preferring his allies to be straightforward.

Dedue was a Blue Lions student at the Officers Academy, hailing from Duscur, a region northwest of the Kingdom capital Fhirdiad. He is Dimitri's retainer, despite many people of the Kingdom distrusting him due to his background. He is respectful, polite and understanding towards others, rarely speaking unless spoken to.

Felix was a Blue Lions student at the Officers Academy, and is the second son of Rodrigue, the Duke of Fraldarius in the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. He presents himself as a sharp-tongued lone wolf type, respecting only those who are skilled. He is dedicated towards his swordsmanship and will challenge anyone strong to a duel.

Ashe was a Blue Lions student at the Officers Academy, hailing from the Gaspard region of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. He is friendly and optimistic, and is a firm believer in pursuing his dreams. He is empathetic to those who are in disadvantageous situations, such as thieves, and is dedicated to helping those who are in need.

Sylvain was a Blue Lions student at the Officers Academy, and is the second son of Margrave Gautier. He is caring for his friends and admired in his class, but is also known as a philanderer. He is fond of women but his easygoing and shallow behaviour towards romance causes him to date without forming any commitment. At times, this makes him inconsiderate with his words around women.

Mercedes was a Blue Lions student at the Officers Academy. She was born into the Barony of Martritz in the Adrestian Empire, but eventually relocated with her mother to an eastern Church in Faerghus, where she was adopted by a commoner. She is a very religious person, having spent her childhood in a church, and finds enjoyment in praying. She has a motherly personality and tends to those in need.

Annette is a Blue Lions student at the Officers Academy, hailing from the Barony of Dominic in the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. She is cheerful and hardworking, but has frequent missteps. Despite this, she still maintains a positive disposition, and cheers up her fellow classmates if they are down.

Ingrid was a Blue Lions student at the Officers Academy, and is the sole daughter of Count Galatea. She aspires to be the ideal knight, reflecting in her hardworking nature. She would rather be on the front lines of battle than be a housewife, and is shown to be unfamiliar with domestic activities.

Rodrigue was the duke of House Fraldarius, and is Felix's father. His relationship with his Felix is strained after the death of his older son Glenn during the Tragedy of Duscur. He strategically resigned his position to Felix, in order to absorb the disdain of citizens, while agreeing to work with Dedue to repair Duscur.

Claude was the House Leader of the Golden Deer at the Officers Academy, and is the grandson and heir to the leader of the Leicester Alliance. He is easygoing on the surface, but others feel wary around him due to his cunning ways. He puts on a lazy front but is always a few steps ahead in strategy and conversation.

Hilda was a Golden Deer student at the Officers Academy, hailing from the Duchy of Goneril in the Leicester Alliance. Hilda is spoiled and lazy, often making excuses to get out of duties and work assigned to her and manipulating her peers to do them for her. Despite her laziness, she is friendly and charismatic and is very helpful when she does actually put effort in.

Lorenz was a Golden Deer student at the Officers Academy, and is heir to the County of Gloucester in the Leicester Alliance. Lorenz is very proud of his status as a noble and flaunts it whenever possible, coming off as snobby and pretentious about the social divide. Despite being obsessed with his status, he does not view this as superiority, he will help out his friends regardless of status but may still make comments about it.

Raphael was a Golden Deer student at the Officers Academy, and is the son of a merchant family in the Leicester Alliance. Despite the tragedy of his parents' death, he maintains an upbeat demeanor and aspires to be a knight in the future in order to care for his little sister. He is a casual, easygoing man who adores to train to improve his physique, and has an impressive appetite.

Ignatz was a Golden Deer student at the Officers Academy, and is the second son of a merchant family that hails from the Leicester Alliance. He is a kind and optimistic young man who cares deeply for his family and works towards his father's dream of him becoming a knight. Although he respects his father, he is a bit upset about this as he feels he is not suited to become one, having a secret passion for the arts.

Lysithea was a Golden Deer student at the Officers Academy, and is heir to House Ordelia of the Leicester Alliance. She is exceptionally talented and strives to improve her knowledge and abilities every day. She dislikes when she is treated as a child, and is sharp-tongued with others if they appear to be looking down on her.

Marianne was a Golden Deer student at the Officers Academy, and is the adoptive daughter of the Margave of Edmund. Marianne has low self-esteem and extremely pessimistic, fearing that her presence and contributions will bring her peers misfortune. She appears to be deeply religious, praying to the Goddess daily, and is fond of animals.

Leonie was a Golden Deer student at the Officers Academy, hailing from Sauin Village in the Leicester Alliance. She met Jeralt in Imperial Year 1174, who took her in as an apprentice during his short time there. She feels deeply indebted to her home village, training every day and living modestly to one day become a mercenary and return the favour. She can be impulsive and blunt, and does not hold back on speaking her emotions.

The eldest son of Duke Goneril and Hilda's older brother, Holst is renowned as the most powerful warrior in all of Leicester. He has a strong sense of justice and cares greatly for The Alliance's future, and even more so for Hilda's future.

Seteth is the second-in-command and chief advisor to Archbishop Rhea with the Church of Seiros, as well as an instructor at the Officers Academy. He values order and discipline, and shares the same hostility as Rhea towards those who oppose the Church. He is also the older brother of Flayn, constantly doting and worrying about her safety as she is the most important thing in his life.

Flayn was conceded the right to live in the monastery as she is Seteth's younger sister and only family. She is not a student, but wishes to become one. She is a polite and sociable girl, speaking very formally but with curiosity in her tone. Seteth worries for her because of her curiosity, which causes her to act rashly at times.

Catherine is one of the most powerful Knights of Seiros, a fearsome swordswoman who wields the legendary Thunderbrand. She is loyal to the Church and Archbishop Rhea, to whom she is strongly attached. While idolized by many knights, she feels she is not worthy of such high praise.

Shamir is one of the Knights of Seiros, a master of the bow who was previously a mercenary. She is not a believer of the Church of Seiros, although this is tolerated by the Church. She has a blunt and straightforward personality, in both expressing her thoughts as well as in the way she battles- doing what she is required of. She is cold in battle, but outside she is plagued with doubts and worry.

Yuri is the leader of the Ashen Wolves, and formerly a student of the Officers Academy. He hailed from the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus previously, but after being expelled due to unknown circumstances from the Academy, he moved to live in Abyss. He speaks crudely, sharp-tongued and reserved, but he is kind and extremely devoted towards those who live in Abyss, caring for their safety. He is a skilled tactician whose personality can catch some off guard.

Constance is a member of the Ashen Wolves, a lady of the Viscounty of Nuvelle in the Adrestian Empire prior to its collapse during the Dagda and Brigid War. She moved to Abyss following the downfall of her House but has not given up on reviving it, waiting for any opportunities to arise where she can regain recognition for House Nuvelle.

Balthus, one of the Ashen Wolves and self-proclaimed King of Grappling, hails from Kupala, a region just northwest of the Leicester Alliance, but due to a large number of bounties on his head he was forced to go into hiding in Abyss. Despite these actions, he is big-hearted and protects those that he cares for. He is the best friend of Hilda's older brother, and does his best to take care of her while fighting alongside her.

Hapi is a member of the Ashen Wolves, hailing from the hidden village of Timotheos in the Adrestian Empire. She is passive and does not attempt to hide her apathy towards life, doing her best to conceal her emotions. She has a negative view towards authority, such as the Knights of Seiros, and society in general, most cynical to the Church due to her history with them. She prefers to call others by nicknames.

A notoriously fearsome warrior, Byleth works under their father's mercenary company. Their attire, combat prowess, and cold unfeelingness has earned them the title of the Ashen Demon. Byleth destroyed Shez's former mercenary group during a job, causing the former to seek revenge.

The battle-hardened leader of the famed Jeralt's Mercenaries, Jeralt wanders the lands of Fódlan with their child Byleth taking on jobs for coin. He previously had ties with the Church of Seiros, which he takes great care in avoiding in the present day.

An expert reporter of nothingness, the Gatekeeper is faithfully guards wherever the player is currently staying.

A mysterious entity whose destiny is intertwined with Shez. Arval grants a great amount of power to their host, but they don't remember who they really are nor their purpose in life. Possesses a significant amount of sass.

Rhea is the archbishop of the Church of Seiros, and leader of the Knights of Seiros at the Garreg Mach monastery. She assigns missions to the three houses every month. She is benevolent, kind, and compassionate to those who follow her and the students at the Officers Academy, but is ruthless to those who oppose the Church. Despite this, she is accepting of other ideologies, but those who seek to attack the church are dealt with via her own self-righteous justice.

Also known as The Beginning, Sothis is the Progenitor God and mother to all humans of Fódlan. Byleth is Sothis's vessel in the real world, and as such is granted amazing powers such as time manipulation.
